Our Story
Cancer hit close to home when Eden (aka "Booboo"), was diagnosed with B-cell non-Hodgkins lymphoma. As an act of solidarity we ordered some matching beanies for Eden and her 3 cousins (who happen to be her best friends). The beanies were a hit. Soon other patients were noticing them and asking where Eden got them. Eden's mom (Tracy) and aunt (Beth) decided it would be fun to have some made for the other kids in the ward. Tracy decided to post our idea on her Facebook wall to see if anyone would like to be involved in this effort and in less than 2 weeks $1,200.00 was donated and Booboo's Beanies was born!
(You can read the full story of Eden's cancer journey here: Our Journey Through Childhood Cancer)
Our goal was to provide stylish, slouchy beanies for kids going through chemotherapy at McMaster Children's Hospital, but people kept asking, "where can I get a beanie?" When we realized how many people wanted to wear a beanie (who doesn't love a fashionable way to support a great cause?) we adopted the "buy one, give one" concept.
Now we can keep this endeavour going, and who knows... maybe someday every kid going through chemotherapy in Canada will have a Booboo's Beanie.
Here's how you can be involved:
1. Like and share our Facebook page and Instagram account with your friends.Tag Booboo's Beanies and hashtag yourself wearing your beanie with the hashtag #booboosbeanies on Instagram. Follow us on Pinterest and repin our pins.
2. You can donate - any amount is appreciated!
3. Order one of our beanies for yourself, or as a gift. Here's the cool part - when you purchase one for yourself,
we give one to a child cancer patient!
Thank you for all the love and support!!
Love,
Beth, Tracy, & Booboo’s Beanies creative team
My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
